Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 9, 2026

1. Introduction

Lida ("we", "our") is a personal productivity application. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information, in compliance with applicable data protection laws.

2. Data We Collect

We only collect data strictly necessary for the application to function:

  • Full name — to personalize your experience.
  • Email — for Magic Link authentication and notifications.
  • Timezone — to display correct dates and times.
  • Tasks, events, and notes — content you generate within the app.
  • Notification preferences — push and email settings.
  • Monthly Focuses — your goals and intentions for specific months to guide AI insights.

3. Cookies and Authentication

We use strictly essential cookies to maintain your authentication session (Magic Link). We also use Google Ads and Google Analytics conversion tags to measure the effectiveness of our advertising and to understand when new users complete signup. See the Advertising and Conversion Tracking section below for details.

Advertising and Conversion Tracking

Lida uses Google Ads and Google Analytics conversion tags to measure signups resulting from advertising campaigns. When you complete signup, a temporary flag may be passed through the URL so the conversion can be recorded. Google may set or read cookies and process device/technical data. This information is used only for conversion measurement and advertising optimization. We do not share personal content (tasks, notes, profile context, etc.) with Google. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy and Google's Advertising policies.

Referral Program

Lida operates an optional referral program. When you share your referral link, a temporary cookie named 'lida_ref' may be stored in the browser of anyone who visits through your link. This cookie is used solely to attribute the referral during account creation and is automatically deleted upon successful processing. We store your referral code and, if applicable, the ID of the user who referred you. This information is used only to calculate trial extensions and is never shared with third parties.

Artificial Intelligence Data Processing

Lida uses Google Gemini and Groq APIs to generate personalized insights ("Morning Briefing", "Daily Wrap-Up", "Weekly Analysis", and "Monthly Retrospective"). For this purpose, your tasks, notes, profile data, and context are processed by these services. According to the API terms of service of these companies, your data is used exclusively to generate real-time responses and is NOT used for training artificial intelligence language models.

Push Notification Quick Actions

Lida offers quick actions in push notifications for task reminders. When you receive a reminder notification, you can click the 'Complete ✓' button to mark the task as completed directly from the notification, without opening the app. This functionality uses your browser's Service Worker to send an authenticated request to our servers, updating the task status in our database. The action only works for your own tasks and requires you to be authenticated.

User Activity Tracking

Lida tracks your in-app activity to improve user experience and detect potential retention issues. We record the date and time of your last significant interaction (creating, editing, completing, or postponing tasks) in a field called 'lastActiveAt'. This information is used exclusively for: (1) identifying inactive users and sending re-engagement communications, (2) personalizing retention email timing, (3) analyzing usage patterns for product improvements, and (4) automatically pausing the emailed Morning Briefing after 14 days of inactivity (Hibernation Policy), resuming it automatically as soon as you're active again. Activity data is stored securely and never shared with third parties.

Retention and Onboarding Emails

Lida uses Resend for transactional emails and optional marketing newsletters. Existing and new users are stored as global Resend contacts in Lida's General segment using their email address and first name. Marketing is enabled by default and can be disabled or re-enabled independently from transactional email notifications in Settings; the preference is synchronized with Resend. Transactional onboarding, retention, security, and account emails are unaffected by the marketing preference. If you delete your Lida account, the Resend contact may be retained in an unsubscribed state for suppression and compliance purposes.

Priority Email Support

PRO tier users have access to priority email support. When a PRO user submits feedback through the app, we use the Resend service to immediately notify our support team. This notification includes your name, email address, and the feedback message. The email is sent with a reply-to header set to your email address, allowing our team to respond directly to you. This processing is necessary to provide the priority support experience included in your PRO subscription. Your feedback content and identity details are transmitted securely to Resend solely for this notification purpose and are not stored by Resend.

Collaborative Sharing (Shared Trails)

Lida allows you to share a task list associated with a specific tag (#tag) with another registered user through the Shared Trails feature. When you accept a sharing invite, items tagged with the shared tag become mutually visible between you and the inviting user. Your email address is used solely to send the invite and verify your identity at acceptance. Shared items are stored in our database under the same security and privacy rules as your personal items. You may leave a shared trail at any time from the tag settings, which will immediately stop the exchange of data. Neither party can access the other's non-shared items.

Custom Collaborative Lists

Lida allows you to create shared workspaces called Custom Lists and invite other registered users by email. When you invite someone, their email address is used solely to send the invitation and verify their identity upon acceptance. Once a member accepts, they can view and interact with items in the shared list. Items created within a custom list — including their content, tags, and status — are visible to all members of that list. Members may be assigned roles (Owner, Editor, Viewer) that determine their level of access. You may remove members or revoke pending invites at any time. Custom list items are isolated from the global tag system: they never appear in Shared Trails or global tag pages. All data within a custom list is stored under the same security rules as personal items.

Payments and Subscriptions

Lida uses Stripe to process payments for paid subscriptions (PLUS and PRO plans). When you subscribe, your Stripe customer ID and subscription ID are stored in our systems to manage your access. No credit card data is stored by Lida. All financial data is handled directly by Stripe in compliance with the PCI DSS standard. For more information, see Stripe's Privacy Policy at stripe.com/privacy.

Google Sign-In (OAuth)

Lida offers the option to sign in using your Google account via OAuth 2.0, a standard authentication protocol provided by Google LLC. When you choose to sign in with Google, you are redirected to Google's authentication page, where you authorize Lida to access your basic profile information (name and email address). No passwords are stored by Lida. The authentication token is managed exclusively by Supabase, our authentication provider. Your Google profile data is used solely to create and identify your Lida account. We do not access your Google Drive, Gmail, or any other Google services beyond what is necessary for authentication. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Automatic Daily Insight Generation (PRO)

PRO plan subscribers have access to automatic daily insight generation. Lida may proactively generate AI-powered insights — such as Morning Briefing or Daily Wrap-Up — on your behalf using your tasks, notes, and profile context, even without an explicit user action. This processing occurs via Google Gemini and Groq APIs and follows the same data handling rules described in the Artificial Intelligence Data Processing section above. Insights are generated exclusively to provide you with personalized planning assistance and are stored in our systems only for the duration necessary to display them in the app.

AI Long-Term Memory

Lida may generate and store an AI-powered rolling summary of your life (such as goals, recurring patterns, and relevant context) in a field called 'aiMemory'. This summary is created by the AI based on your tasks, notes, profile context, and usage patterns. It is used solely to make AI insights more coherent and personalized over time. The summary is stored in your profile and is never shared with third parties. The size of this summary is limited by your subscription tier: 0 characters for Free users (feature unavailable), 1,000 characters for PLUS, and 3,000 characters for PRO. When you delete your account, this data is permanently removed.

Voice Capture (Speech-to-Text)

The microphone button in the input field uses your browser's built-in Web Speech API to transcribe speech into text. Audio is processed by your browser/operating system (which may send it to the browser vendor for recognition); Lida does not record, store, or receive your raw audio. Only the transcribed text you choose to submit is saved as an item.

Interface Preferences (Local Storage)

Some interface preferences, such as the "UI Sounds" toggle that plays a chime when you complete a task, are stored locally in your browser via localStorage. These preferences stay on your device and are not sent to our servers.

Offline Usage (Local Caching)

So Lida can work without an internet connection, we use a service worker that caches pages and resources you've already visited on your device (via the browser's Cache Storage), letting you access them offline. This caching is purely local: no additional data is sent to our servers or third parties, and it does not change how your data is processed on the back end. Changes you make while offline (like marking a task as done) are saved locally and sync automatically once your connection is restored.

End-of-Day Reflections

When you generate an End-of-Day Wrap-Up, any optional reflection you write is sent, together with your day's items, to our AI provider to produce your personalized summary. If you leave the reflection blank, a neutral placeholder is sent instead. Reflections are processed only when you explicitly request a wrap-up.

4. Data Usage

Your data is used exclusively to:

  • Provide and maintain the application's functionality.
  • Send notifications you have opted to receive (push and/or email).
  • Personalize the interface with your name and preferences.

5. Data Sharing

We do NOT sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or any other commercial purpose. Your data may be processed by infrastructure providers (hosting and database) strictly for service operation.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access all your stored personal data.
  • Export your data in JSON format at any time, directly from the Settings page.
  • Permanently delete your account and all associated data, at any time, directly from the Settings page.
  • Correct your personal data (name, email) in Settings.
  • Revoke consent for notifications at any time.

7. Security

We employ technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), Row Level Security (RLS) in the database, and passwordless authentication via Magic Link.

8. Data Retention

Your Lida application data is retained while you have an active account and removed when you delete it. A minimal Resend contact record may be retained in an unsubscribed state to honor suppression and compliance requirements.

9. Contact
